Hi everyone! As a local resident loving the Orange County foodie scene, California, I’m so excited to share my latest discovery for authentic Korean flavors right here in Southern California! Don't we all have those days when we crave the deep, smoky "fire flavor" of real Jajangmyeon(Black noodle) and Jjamppong(Spicy seafood soup with ok kind of comfort food that instant, store-bought sauces from local supermarkets can never truly satisfy. So today, I headed over to one of the most talked-about Garden Grove restaurants specializing in traditional Korean Chinese food: [Jeong's Noodle]. The portions were incredibly generous, so I packed the leftovers to-go. Even setting them out on my dining table back home, the dishes still look absoulutely delicious! this post after finally getting my fix of authentic Korean flavor today!
Don't we all have those days when we crave that deep, smoky "fire flavor" of Jajangmyeon and Jjamppong-the kind that instant, store-bought sauces from American supermarkets can never satisfy? So today, I headed over to the famous Korean-Chinese restaurant in Garden Grove, [Jeong's Noodle]. The portions were so generous that I ended up packing the leftovers to-go. Even setting them out on my dining table back home, they still look absolutely delicious. 😊
🍜 Jeong's Noodle in Garden Grove : A True Culinary Gem That Converted a Lifelong Jajangmyeon(Black Noodle) Lover!
First off, the Jajangmyeon I ordered is their official "Uni Jajang." It features finely minced pork stir-fried with fresh vegetables, and surprisingly, it tastes remarkably similar to a really good, authentic Korean Gan-jajang. It has a wonderful, distinct smoky aroma with a slightly richer, savory sweetness that keeps you reaching for more.
But the real star of the show was something else. To be honest, I’ve been a die-hard Jajangmyeon fan my entire life-whenever I went to a Korean-Chinese restaurant, I strictly ordered Jajangmyeon. However, after tasting their Jjamppong(Spicy Seafood Soup Noodle) today, my preference has completely flipped.
Once you try their Jjamppong broth, which is deeply infused with their unique, signature smoky "fire flavor," there is simply no going back. Between Korea and the U.S. combined, I have eaten more Jjamppong at this single restaurant than I ever have in my entire life. It truly has a magical broth that makes you an instant Jjamppong convert.
As for the Tangsuyuk (Sweet and Sour Pork), it’s fried in clean oil, making the exterior incredibly crispy and genuinely delicious. Just keep in mind that it’s a light, extra-crispy style rather than being densely packed with heavy meat! It’s perfect if you enjoy a light, satisfying crunch.

☕ The Perfect Palate Cleanser: 'Phin & Tonic' Coffee at Phin Smith
After a hearty, rich meal at Jeong's Noodle Jjamppong, I headed over to the nearby hotspot [Phin Smith] to refresh my palate.
The drink I chose today was the 'Phin & Tonic'! It’s a very unique and charming beverage made by mixing deeply brewed, traditional Vietnamese Phin coffee with bubbly tonic water, topped with a fresh, vibrant orange slice.
With the very first sip, the crisp effervescence of the tonic water and the bright, citrusy aroma of the orange completely coat your mouth. Right after, the bold, rich, and bittersweet notes of the Vietnamese coffee come through beautifully. It was truly the ultimate dessert, perfectly washing away the oiliness of the Chinese food and leaving my mouth feeling crisp and clean. Plus, thanks to the orange slice floating inside, it looks absolutely beautiful, too!
✨ Summary & Final Verdict
* Jeong's Noodle: The sweet, smoky Uni Jajang is great, but their deep, smoky Jjamppong—which literally converted a lifelong Jajangmyeon lover—is an absolute must-try!
* Phin Smith (Phin & Tonic): An exceptionally refreshing, mocktail-like coffee that perfectly cuts through the richness of the meal with bright orange notes and a crisp fizz!
If you’re around Garden Grove and wondering what to eat today, I highly recommend following this exact route for the perfect balance of savory, sweet, and refreshing. You won't regret it!
And here’s an extra tip for you! Every Sunday, a 'Farmer's Market' 🎪opens right on the street/bridge in front of the coffee shop. Those plums in the top photo? I tried a sample, and they were so delicious that I bought about 10 of them for $8. They are incredibly sweet, juicy, and packed with the flavors of the season. It really gives you that charming, vibrant vibe of a travel-destination street market. It’s open from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, making it the perfect spot to head out for a quick breath of fresh air.
